The Home Association
of 1923 and the city joined to protect the design of the area.
The original guidelines state “every possible protection
has been established to make sure that the neighborhoods of
Palos Verdes can never be spoiled, that every man who builds
a fine home or other building here need not fear that a thoughtless
or unsympathetic neighbor would put in a kind of building
next to him so unattractive or inappropriate as to be ruinous.”
The Home Association’s addition of The Art Jury was
to review and approve all plans and changes.
The only multiple home in Palos Verdes Estates is located
near the commercial districts in Malaga Cove and Lunada Bay.
Nearly all of the homes in this area are custom built. The
only street lights are along Palos Verdes Blvd. and are still
the original 1920s design. There are no traffic lights and
few sidewalks, curbs or gutters. Trees are protected by the
city and trash containers are hidden from view. If you want
to find out more about this lovely area on the Palos Verdes
Peninsula please visit the website we have dedicated to it,
